I have just returned from Mexico and had a great trip and got lots of good pictures of our new houses at El Salto. The fishing was fantastic as our clients were having a ball catching lots of quality fish. The weather was very comfortable and the camp looked better than it has in years.

The only disappointment was we were not full of clients getting to enjoy this great fishing. The USA economy has hurt our business just like a lot of other businesses. Also, the fear of travel to Mexico still is having an effect even though we have no problems at all at the lakes.

I would not advise travel to any of the Mexican border towns as the drug wars are still going on. American tourists are not targets. It's a battle between drug cartels over territory and has nothing to do with tourists.

I am in my 40th year doing business in Mexico and things are all about the same as always except prices have gone up a lot in the past 20 years.

We all are having it much harder than before the recession hit us a couple years ago. This is the time to fight back! I am going to create some new programs to fit every budget and offer some additional services to attract more clients. With the new prices I predict that we will attract a ton of new clients starting in April.

Our normal price for April and may has been $1495 for 3 days fishing at El Salto. Starting April 1 the new price will be $995 per person for the deluxe package. We also will offer a new economy package that will sell for an unheard price of $795 for 3 days. We only have room for 8 clients at a time on the economy package and I feel those spots will vanish once clients hear about it.

We also are offering the following for the deluxe package:

1. Internet service
2. Satellite phone ( 3 minutes free)
3. Massage by a professional--free
4. Fish out of a new Express boat--by far the best boats on the lake
5. Cuban cigars
6. Free use of rods and reels
7. Ice cream--all you can eat 24/7
8. Jacuzzi for everyone (but probably will not have it installed until June)
9. Tournament of champions---free fishing trip to the angler catching the biggest fish each month
10. Free drinks including open bar

This new program for our lodge on the lake is just unheard of but we are determined to give every one of our clients a chance to fish this wonderful lake while it is so good.

We had good fishing this season with tremendous numbers of fish. Most boats caught over 100 fish per day on almost any lure they used. This year's big bass went to JW Peterson and weighed over 12 pounds. We have closed our camp for the season. We probably will have a price reduction on Comedero so please keep checking our web site.

This was one crazy year as we had more clients than usual and the fishing just keeps getting better. Gilberto has done a great job of always catching peacocks no matter the water level. The biggest news to report is that two of our biggest competitors went out of business. The bad thing is that even though he knew he was going broke months ago, he kept collecting money for trips he could not give his clients. The Dallas Morning News had a front page story all about this mess in Brazil. I am truly sorry for all our competitors' clients who lost their money. Over the past 40 years in this business I have seen corrupt outfitters several times before.

The other competitor has been accused of providing underage prostitutes for his clients and even the name of a governor here in the states came up in the paper. According to the article, this promoter is being charged with several federal crimes by our government even if the crime was committed in Brazil. The charges mentioned would carry a 30 year sentence in one of our fine federal institutions.

We are not calling any names or saying the reports are accurate, but simply reporting what the Dallas Morning News printed. Before booking a trip out of the USA, I recommend that you get tons of recommendations from everyone that has had experience with the outfitter. BUYER BE AWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
